There are many people today making thousands of dollars in the legal cannabis industry while thousands remain locked up in prisons across the USA. There is only one organization "Hemp Heals Us" who is attempting to speak up for those who's lives have been negatively effected by the many years of cannabis prohibition and its racist laws. In the States that have passed laws allowing the medical and recreational use of the plant are designing the laws to bar certain people from entering the cannabis industry so that they can not benefit from the New Trillion Dollar Crop. The Farm Bill passed in 2014 it will allow for industrial Hemp to be harvested soon on a national level, creating millions of jobs and it is important that it this industry is not allowed to continue to pass legislation that will keep people in prison, prosecute people, bar certain people from the industry or neglect creating programs to help repair the live of those negatively effected by the war on cannabis.. Back in 1938 in Popular Mechanics magazine there was an article entitled "New Billion Dollar Crop". But in 1937 the marijuana tax act was passed making it almost impossible for that article to manifest into reality. The tax act was designed to do two things 1) Stop the use of industrial hemp/cannabis/marijuana for industrial, medical and agricultural purposes. 2) To criminalize certain undesirable members of society. I don't think that there is any plant on earth that has more positive benefits to the human race and our planet then cannabis yet the government and big business have successfully raged a grand campaign to keep the information away from the pubic. This plant can cure certain forms of cancer and meet all the worlds energy needs, make a biodegradable plastic while helping to clean our environment just to name a few of it uses. In 1970 the controlled substance act was passed by the Nixon Administration, categorizing cannabis/hemp/marijuana as a schedule ONE controlled substance along with heroin thus making it illegal under federal laws! Up until 1970 States made their own racist drug laws. And let me state here that cannabis is not a drug! In 1970 there was less then 500 k prisoners in the USA... fast forward to 2017 we have over 2.3 million people in prison, more then any country in our known history and disproportionately most are BA (Black/African) people. In 1968 80% of all BA homes had two parents raising the children today in 2017 less then 35% of all BA homes have both parents in them. Today the police kill unarmed AB on a weekly bases and the urban areas are like war zones because of very limited resources and other conditions created by government policies.
